This is a unique opportunity for interested and talented students to improve their math skills during the summer season. Students are guided and trained by expert faculty and Orlando Science High School Mu Alpha Theta members via utilizing national competitions in a fun and challenging environment. The camp is two weeks long from Mondays to Fridays.

The camp is open for rising 4th through 8th grade students who would like to train for challenging middle school math competitions such as Mathleague, MathCounts, and AMC 8. There will be five different level of classes and placement will be based on either through an existing competition score or the selection test. Previous years’ MathCounts, AMC 8, or MathLeague results might be used for placement. If a student doesn’t have any score from these competitions, then he/she will be taking a placement test before the camp start. After that, the student will be placed in an appropriate class. Please note that a score of 5 from the most recent grade level FSA Math or Algebra 1 EOC is required for camp registration.
During the camp, students will be provided with lectures and trained with different types of problems to master various problem-solving techniques. The classes are problem solving-based, whose curriculum is aligned with prestigious national competitions. Lectures will be given, and problem-solving strategies will be taught in Number Theory, Algebra/Analysis, Geometry, and Combinatorics. The camp provides a motivational and challenging environment for students. Also, the camp requires campers to demonstrate teamwork skills and cooperation in social settings. Parents are asked to consider these when registering for the camp.
Please ensure you read about the schedule and the course descriptions and choose the one you think is most applicable. OSS reserves its rights to direct to the more appropriate course or deny enrollment if the requirements are not met.
